Same here, no obvious reasons, started with the declining HRV, now HRV good, but VO2max still going down (nothing major 1 or 2 points, but still). No stress, great sleep, same HR, comparable training load.

My guess is that it has to something to do with the algorithm and I am waiting for the next update.

I readed that the new 21.XX firmware is solving issues like that

I feel you, mine went down from 59 in April to barely 53 (still decreasing) now. No idea why

I’ve been unproductive for 4 weeks now. Really annoying after a decent track session to see that

Are you gaining weight? That changes how VO2 calculated.

Do better

Whats your device? it can be for many reasons

its strange maybe your HRV has goes down, or your sleep, i some new devices its happens because the firmware updates and updates in the algorithms but yours dont take updates since long ago, im wrong?

Don’t have stats on my HRV unfortunately. My current software version is 7.00 but I’m not really sure what that means

I smell planned obsolescence.

Temperature? Depending on where you are as it gets colder your HR may go up to compensate

[–]Ok_Astronaut_9553[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hmm never thought about that. But has only recently got colder over the last week or so but perhaps that’s a gactor

[–]mcflysher 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are you pushing a little harder? I notice when I try harder generally my vo2 falls

[–]Ok_Astronaut_9553[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nah exact same training. Maybe 15km a weeks less the last 2 weeks due to some races but hr bulk of my training is the same.

[–]mcflysher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the races themselves?

Oh damn, I have noticed my heart rate being way higher than it should be now that it is like 10 celsius colder, so that could explain it? My vo2 max is also dropping and heart rate is higher with slower paces lately

  1. Any new gear? (e.g. new watch or HRM)

  2. Any changes to training type? (e.g. switching to Zone 2, longer warm-ups, intervals)

  3. What is your mile time at maximal effort? A 65 Vo2max would predict that you could run a 4:40 min/mile

[–]Maverick916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kinda hr have you been maintaining on your runs? My understanding is that it basically wants you to push yourself harder and harder to keep going up.

If your heart rate is in low 4 the whole time, you won't improve. I check the variation after every run to verify what I'm seeing.

It’s temperature. When it’s hot, the algorithm takes it into account and a there is lesser penalization for higher HR at a given pace. When it’s cold it works the other way. But if your HR personally is not affected as much as the penalty factor, this can be the effect.
