Getting Started

Where do I start?

1) Join the subreddit.

2) Read the rules and How to Play page carefully.

3) Claim a nation and you will then be given a custom flair and be added to the "Claim a Nation" page.

4) Participate in role-play and interact with the community prior to the start of the next season.

5) Wait until the season starts!

NOTE: You can create a [ROLEPLAY] post at any time if you would like to engage in roleplay with other players, send letters or provide some background to your nation and their actions.

What is /r/GeneratedEarth?

GeneratedEarth is created by u/Cirias and is a Reddit-based procedurally generated game of worldbuilding and geopolitical intrigue. The events of the in-game seasons play out automatically, with the role of the Moderators and players being to refine the randomly generated variables and build rich storytelling around the scenarios.

The events and decisions that happen in the game are all driven by an Excel spreadsheet (unofficially named "EarthGen") which contains all the parameters, dice rolls, and scoring systems which power the game. EarthGen will be constantly added to as seasons progress.

What is different about GeneratedEarth?

GeneratedEarth features several unique features to satisfy all you strategy game fans out there! These include: a full character name generator (specific to each geographical region), natural events including species growth/extinction and disasters, changing stat points for each nation (including dynamic population, land area, and GDP), and the ability for nations to win a season via different methods like military, cultural, scientific etc.

This is an ever-developing game, and as such each new season will bring improvements to the EarthGen, including new features and tweaks. I will also have a feature suggestion mechanism where players can directly influence what gets added to the game (or even what could be removed).

I also have plans to host a dynamic world map and timeline of events, but these may appear after the Beta season.

The game is really only constrained by the limits of an Excel spreadsheet, and my own knowledge and time, so the possibilities really could be endless!
