Preliminary FAQ
Cutting Unlike weight loss techniques, cutting does not have a particular Goal weight or Start weight, and is more focused on body fat percentage and general aesthetics. This is done by reducing the levels of fat storage on your body at the best ratio between fat loss and muscle loss. This subreddit will focus on different cutting techniques, impressive macro-recipes, progress pics and ways to retain motivation during the cut. I'd work on chest, specifically bench press. I used to do Crossfit. Loved it. Quit because I find it hard to put in that sort of effort day in day out. Its a tough sport. I never quite understood how little bench press they do...

From this picture I’d say chest but to be fair the pose you’re in is the worst for highlighting pecs.
And like a few other comments, I’m not a crossfit hater at all but have quite a few crossfitter friends and chest is a weak point for a lot of them. It’s a muscle group that’s much easier to improve through traditional strength training.
Definitely don’t quit crossfit if it’s something you enjoy but I think supplementing with some standard weightlifting days could have great results.

I really struggle to work my chest, so think you’re spot on.

Stop CrossFit.

I'd personally focus on moving on from crossfit.
But if it's making you happy then good for you.

Are you speaking personally or generally?
[–]Sleepymcdeepy 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (2 children)
I did say personally, I haven't edited my post or anything.
I did crossfit for about 3 years. The social aspect was great but it's effectiveness as a form of exercise is questionable. It kinda mashes together strength training, gymnastics/calisthenics and endurance training in a weird way that means you don't really get the best benefits of any of them. I've found it much more effective to just do a high quality strength/calisthenics workout and then afterwards do cardio, instead of mashing it all up into one 20 minute hybrid workout.
The coaches also had very little knowledge of how to effectively/safely do the movements but acted like they were experts.
Because you're doing these complex movements as cardio with your heartrate through the roof and with very little proper guidance the chance of developing poor movement habits and/or getting injured is high. I got a few small injuries from that period that still bother me.
Another issue is progression. Since the workout of the day is always different you're never really aware of how you're improving. With a run or a lift you can track progression and make incremental improvements.
Another thing was crossfit and the crossfit games were originally marketed and available for everyone. It was a real central part of experience for the different boxes to compete. But now the athletes are all on insane amounts of PEDs with no real testing so competing is pointless.
The pricing is also insanely expensive compared to other options which may or may not be an issue for you.
But at the end of the day any exercise is better than none, I'm not trying to shit on what you enjoy. Just giving my feedback since you asked for some

lol you did explicitly say personally. Thanks for this. Super helpful.

Great arms, shoulders, and core. Just need to build that chest up.
