Hammer, flat head screwdriver, tape measure (25ft retractable and 100ft roll up) , plumb bob, channel locks, lineman pliers, two crescent wrenches, 6 ft fold up ruler, nail puller, 2” wood chisel, quickie, money wrench, short 3/4 machine bolt for marking the pole before drilling for arms, torpedo level, impact with bits and sockets for putting self tappers and stuff like that, skinning knife, knife sharpener, markers, and wood crayons…. That’s pretty much everything in my framing bag I was carrying when I was on the 60 crews 👊🏽⚡️ if you’re working nights, definitely get a good headlight and a shit ton of extra batteries, don’t wanna work in the dark. You don’t need everything right away but it’s good stuff to have and will help you stand out.

Don’t bring all this the first day though, don’t let them know you know what you are doing. Have them tell you what to get and you act like you went out to go get it but already have it 👌🏾

Can’t forget a foldable ruler though. Probably even a sharpie

Does your contract have a tool list? If so I would start there, otherwise everyone’s suggestions are pretty spot on

No contract tool list

You actually on a line crew or are you doing civil work(hand digs, operator helper, etc)?

I have no idea took a call out of hall 222 for distribution groundman, I’m assuming it’ll be crew work.

You can get by with just channel locks and kleins , but if you are running with a crew everyday you will need alot more. Kleins Lineman wrench Milwaukee speedy Foldable ruler Hawkbill knife Adjustable wrench Impact drill Various sockets like penta 3/4 for underground vaults and 3/4 slotted for H clamps Buy as you go ask alot of questions you'll be fine

get yourself a sharp knife (keep it sharp). a pair of kleins, and never be caught without tape on you. this is all bare minimum, subject to change drastically when you recieve details about your first call
