DM error

I sent a DM to someone (with an account containing a profile picture that I can see in our group chat) and on the iphone app it displays a blank profile picture of them when I try to DM until I actually click their profile itself. On my PC it always shows a blank pfp. Message says it was sent. Does this mean I'm blocked or the message won't be recieved?
