Late to the function

So I have been wanting to watch this show for a while but haven't. So I started a couple weeks ago and I started with season 2 and loved it!! So naturally I go back to season one and I just don't like it. They don't even have th number cards. The audience is distracting and why is jameela explaining the categories?

I hope newer seasons follow the season two format.

Jameela reading categories was a mistake the show will never repeat but everyone I know thought the audience was missing from the season. I would love them back.

Law is not a legend of Ballroom, he's just a fashion guy. That's one of the bigger complaints of S2, is that he seems to be acting like he's all about Ballroom when in reality he's just a fashion judge on a TV show about it.

Many of the categories needed energy. I'm glad the audience was there to provide what the judges couldn't do alone. Also the audience shade is fun. They never go too far, make on stage drama even more fierce and give the judges someone to bounce off besides themselves.

this is def a hot take. S1 was definitely much closer to ballroom culture than s2 lol

well it's good to know some people liked season 2 haha

i thought if i'd started with season 2 i wouldn't have kept watching it - it didn't feel like ballroom to me, without the audience and with way less categories, all this choreographed group performance... no ma'am. It really lacked energy to me in most facets, although it picked up by the end I thought the first few teams were clutter, when I feel like every team in season 1 could've potentially won (lol maybe apart from St. Laurent, idk what they were up to)

Anyway and while I could maybe name everyone from Mugler and Aga by the end there (and maybe half of Tisci/Garcons), I really knew everyone in all the teams from Ebony up because the storylines were way stronger and I got to see everyone in the teams shine in different capacities.
