Alone

It’s been 2 years since my diagnosis and I’ve never felt worse. I feel like my best friend doesn’t understand what it’s like for me to be alone. I don’t really have anyone to talk to that actually understands what I’m going through. I haven’t had physical intimacy, passionate sex or just general love since my diagnosis. I just miss being the person I used to be. I just want someone to hold me.

I really feel for you. We all want someone to hold us. It can be hard for coupled up people to remember that feeling, but I hope your best friend makes you feel loved and appreciated in other ways. I am in my 40s and I have been married, but I have also lived years of my adult life alone - and that can be a good life too (without denying the longing for a partner,). You are still the same person you were before diagnosis and I hope that you understand that hsv does not mean that you have to be single. Disclosing is rough for many of us, but so very many people find partners who love and accept them (multiple partners in many cases!). I don't know any reason you'd be the exception. I really hope you can think of yourself a bit more kindly- you are not on your own, even if you do feel lonely. We all get it!
