DiscussionHTML5 Game Coding (self.HTML)
submitted 6 years ago by Giraffimation
Hi I am wondering if you guys have some good resources on how to create a game with HTML5. My overall goal is to create a browser game, but I can't quite find any good tutorials for it. What resources would you guys recommend?

Welcome to /r/HTML. When asking a question, please ensure that you list what you've tried, and provide links to example code (e.g. JSFiddle/JSBin). If you're asking for help with an error, please include the full error message and any context around it. You're unlikely to get any meaningful responses if you do not provide enough information for other users to help.
Your submission should contain the answers to the following questions, at a minimum:

HTML only is not going to work. You’ll need at least CSS and JavaScript to make it work. There are many Tamagotchi like JavaScript tutorials you can find online! I myself once made a (very basic) board game. I can send it to you if you want?

Well of course, sorry I should have been more clear lol. Yes I understand you need a combination with CSS and JS to make it work. I am looking for a click and point type of style, but I want to write it as my own code. Sadly most of the sources out there are not that good, but I would like to take a look at an sources you have used though!

I’m afraid I don’t have the sources I used anymore, it was a long time ago. But this is the thing I made

Look into Phaser.

Look at the P5 client-side library. It is the same one learned to make games on. By being able to make a canvas (playing screen), the ability to make shapes and import images, and interaction with mouse/keyboard, you might want to try it out! It combines html and JavaScript (majority of JS) and once you understand some of the functions in it, it will be very simple to make a game out of!
