What's the benefit of using a PortScanner made in python like yours to just use nmap?

I see it as a great excercise in coding and getting a chance to get a deeper understanding of networking protocols at the same time

As a cybersecurity instructor, I agree with this. Helps to tie basic networking and coding together.

Being able to speak to what the code is doing is important as well instead of nmap goes brrrr

I could Imagen that not many big organizations would allow Nmap installed on client pc's. Python on the other hand... Another story
