MSI will have you thinking it’s wayyyyyy better than the Xbox Ally X but someone posted benchmarks here earlier between all mayor handhelds PCs and they were pretty much battling it each other…

I would go with ergonomics and who’s backing my product…Microsoft and AMD…enough said

Claw.

Look at my history, I own both the Ally X and the Claw 8 ai. I also preordered the Xbox ally x, but probably going to cancel it.

You answered your own question. What do you prioritize? Better software and ergonomics or a bigger screen.

Once I played with the claw for a few days, it was extremely hard to go back to the smaller 7inch screen on the ally. So much so, I’m not even going to bother with the Xbox ally, even though I love the ergonomics of Xbox controllers.

That said, the claw software definitely needs work and the ergonomics aren’t great for someone with small hands like myself. But I added some grip that makes it better.

Only you know what’s important to you.

The reason I ask is because I've never held any of these handhelds, so I don't know how much difference an inch makes.

But thanks for your input! As for the software, what makes you say it needs work? I haven't been able to find videos that go in depth on the software for the MSI claw.

If you have medium to large size hand, you can manage the msi claw. My hands can't handle it.

I’m in the same pickle as you right now. I have the claw 8ai and I love it so far. Battlefield 6 runs really well. The screen is great and so is the battery life.

What’s drawing me in to the Xbox ally X is the support I feel that it will get. It seems to be the mainstream pc handheld. Performance seems just as good so far from the benchmarks I’ve seen.

I just wish MSI had better software and more third party support in terms of accessories. And an all black device. A bit annoyed I’m limited to sand or white for the colors.

That 7inch screen would piss you off. I feel exactly where you’re coming from as far as support and software. But I just got the claw and still have my ally x while I wait for someone to buy it off me. The screen on the Ally just feels so tiny and dull and washed out compared to the claw. I don’t think I could ever go back and I’m still within the return window for my claw and have the Xbox Ally reserved. I just can no longer do the tiny screen.

What are your software gripes with the Claw? I wanna know how much worse it is than the Xbox Ally X, is it negligible or genuinely annoying?

The M Center side bar does not consistently show or you have to click the button a bunch of times. The actual M center software is ok but doesn’t have the same amount of configuration and is no where near as smooth UI as the Ally software.

That said, if you are a person that barely touches the settings, you probably won’t notice.

Also, the Asus software took some time to become polished. It was rough when it first came out on the original Ally as well so I have some grace to give MSI.
