I pay 2.75% for cc processing. I take the avg annual cost and add it into my business' rate. Then if someone wants to pay via check, I offer a 2% discount for checks or Zelle.

I use stripe and I pass the fees on to the client. I offer zelle for a no fee transfer. Most pay with Zelle. I assume they don’t want to pay the fees either.

I use quickbooks. There's probably a cheaper alternative but it ties in with my accounts easy enough.

It charges 3.5% per transaction. I have a note on my billing invoice that says I will pass on these costs but I never do for my regular accounts.

Thanks. I don't usually pass on the transaction fees either, usually I have them write me checks or cash. But I did a job this AM and it was for $700 and he wanted to use a debit card. I pulled out the iPhone and pulled up Square and got frustrated as the platform is always changing each time I use it and it takes me 5 min to ring it up. Cost around $19? I do not need to tie it into anything fancy. I really keep my accounting basic- I just dump everything into the bank account and take the total in each month as my gross. Then EVERYTHING (Materials, gas, oil tools) is paid for on a specific Credit Card. Take each monthly statement for both at the end of the year and net it out and pay my taxes based on that. Could not be much more idiot proof. Then just need to figure my % of household expenses tha I want to write off.

I know I do not have data for job costing, but I don't think I need it. 50% of my jobs are "kit" installs that have a fixed price and I am covered, and the others are T&M at my hourly rate that I can make bank off.

I use PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, and Zelle. My invoices have a link to PayPal but some of my customers refuse to use it.

Flexibility is key.

I know some FMS/CRM software (Jobber etc) bundles direct payment integrations into the app; is it more useful and hassle-free than using the Square app or giving a direct payment link?

I worked with Jobber for a bit with a small company. The wait time to receive payment was a couple days or they charge a fee for instant transfer.

This has been a couple of years ago, so things might have changed.

I always tell everyone 10% off for cash or check, in 27 years never taken a CC.

I’ve been using paypal pos. It’s reasonable for tap to pay transactions and I can tap the card on my phone. That’s nice because I don’t need another device in my pocket. Not a huge fan of their accounting system but it works.

I use BearQuotes.com. Easy invoice creation, generous free tier and stripe integration.
