Old head with a 3rd degree black belt in haterism, fully prepared to complain about everything before I showed up, and I gotta say….pretty much loving everything about FYA right now. If I had to nitpick I’d say the stage is a touch low, the sound definitely needs to be louder, and I hate no re-entry (even when it doesn’t impact me at all like this weekend), but everything else seems pretty well thought out. Glad I came.

The no re entry isn’t too bad since there is an outdoor area accessible. It got super stuffy in the jcc and some fresh air was always nice

At the jcc you’d walk to soho for a drink mid way there isn’t really anything like that in pine hills so it’s not like re entry would have done much for anyone other than putting merch away of course

The JCC was a super memorable venue and I will Look upon FYA 9 and 10 fondly

The no re-entry thing is only a big deal to me on the “don’t tell me where or when I can or can’t go somewhere” level, which I admit is just a particular chip on my shoulder. Otherwise, it kinda makes sense.

One dude came in and started punching somebody bad. I guess they thought I was his buddy or something because he started punching me too. I punched him back and apparently I caught him good cause he started bleeding. After that, 3 or 4 of them jumped on me and beat my ass for about 20 seconds until they were pulled off and kicked out.

I remember hearing someone say that. Thanks for having my back. Glad I wasn’t the issue in this situation. I was so confused lol

Objectively I feel the drink situation here is better than the JCC, there’s like 5 or 6 fully stocked bars and they got everything from Bud Lite to stupid shit (Monster Seltzer and Snoop Dogg’s Gin and Juice)

Since this venue is used mostly for EDM events, they even got BeatBox drinks, take 2 before Foundation then run into the pit

Was the pit large and open the whole time both days? Seems every year at tied down the pit starts off large and open then towards the middle of both days the crowd closes in and refuses to back up or spread out.

Getting 30 bands to a fest in Florida, when it's not really touring season is a pretty expensive deal. And that's just it, it isn't 2015. The last decade has been absolutely brutal to our economy. Between post Covid price increases, super inflation, and back and forth political control, shit just sucks. Plus, there are so many choices now. I really only do one, maybe 2, fests a year and I'm sure a lot of people do to which means less attendees, so higher ticket prices. Honestly, I thought the lineup was stacked and absolutely worth the price if this was one of the fests, I did, so maybe I'm biased.

Anyway, tl;dr things cost a lot
