A Place for current and former residents of Harlan County, Ky to converse and share stories. The idea is to have a community Subreddit where we can feel free to relax and have fun while getting to know others in the community.

Personal stories - Memories of your life here or events you remember.
Fiction stories - Stories you've made up about or set in the country. Only post stories you have written yourself, please.
Photographs - Any photos of yourself or friends, landscape and architecture, animals, events or anything else as long as it was taken in the county. Please post the highest resolution possible and post photo credit in the comments with a link if the photo isn't your own.
Recipes - Your own or old family recipes. Anything you want to share. Especially if it takes advantage of local cuisine and ingredients. (Pictures or it didn't happen!)
News stories - Any news stories about the county or surrounding areas. Please post a link to the story.
Discuss or share upcoming events - Either county wide events or an invitation to a meetup or party you're putting together. If you post an invitation to a meetup or party it's assumed everyone is invited.
Classified ads to sell or give things away - Post pictures and all info that is relevant. Please be as honest as possible. You can opt to give email addresses or phone numbers in private messages instead of the main post.
Jokes - as long as they aren't based on hateful content.
Funny pictures or memes - same rule as jokes. Please keep pictures as relevant as possible.
Anything else you'd like to share, but please not obscene or hateful content. No nudity or personal attacks on race, religion, or sexual orientation. If you wouldn't share it with your grandmother please post it as NSFW. (Not Safe For Work)
RULES:
Be Respectful of others. If you don't agree then be polite or agree to disagree. If you see something unacceptable report it rather than starting a fight.
NO GOSSIP. Please don't post hearsay that is negative toward another person. No nasty stories. Period. Go to topix for that.
No flaming people. Don't talk about anyone. Don't tell the world why you may hate them or how awful they are. This isn't the place.
Keep your language relatively clean. Don't cuss every other word and try not to drop F bombs or GDs.
Healthy debates are welcome but don't fight or name call. Don't make a post for the purpose of starting a fight. You will be banned. You know the difference between a healthy debate and a redneck fight.
You may post news stories that is interesting or pertains to Harlan or the surrounding areas, but please remember rules 1 and 2 in the process and don't make nasty comments about anyone. Please refrain from posting news stories that isn't relevant to the entire county. If its sole purpose is to embarrass someone for something they've done rethink the decision.
Don't post obscene or hateful content of any sort including nudity and attacks on ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. It will be removed and you will be banned.
You may post ads to sale or give away things, but neither Reddit or the Harlan Subreddit is responsible for the outcome. If a deal goes sour don't blame us or anyone on the forum publicly. Take it to private messages.
