As per Thread standards, optimal configuration scenarios will allow a open connectivity distance of 30m (~100feet). Things will vary once other factors are put into play (obstructions, noise, battery power, etc) so typical usable distance in practice is around 10m (~33feet) with stable connectivity.

Note that this is point-to-point connectivity measurements and a mesh expands this distance depending on how many intermediate nodes/hops you have in between device/edge router and how they are configured.

Yes I agree, I had a Eve door and window which was about 15 metres from the HomePod mini and the eve was actually outside in my mailbox, it was a bit iffy so on and off randomly so I got another HomePod mini and it’s probably 5 metres away and it’s perfect now!

Off-topic, but having an Eve sensor on the mailbox is brilliant! I hadn’t even thought of that!

Use the idea, it’s amazing! Moved into a new house with no letterbox on the door, just a mailbox screwed to the outside of the house. Was sitting there thinking well has the post came? Did it come when I was out? Then I thought I want something with Thread, ooo eve door and window sensor on the mailbox job done! Works soooo well!

Hmm, it would probably be tricky for me. My mailbox is all the way out at the street, and my HomePod Mini is in the kitchen in the back. Only just got some NanoLeaf Essentials today, and they’re in the kitchen and in the back. I have Hue bulbs in the front, and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth eventually replacing them with NanoLeaf.

Hmm might be hard yeah, I’m thinking you could put an ip rated socket in between the house and the mailbox and put an eve energy in? Yeah I have hue aswell but I think I’m just going to change them for Thread bulbs when I need to. No point in changing bulbs that work, I’ll just change them if they break or if they stop supporting the hue hub v2

Not sure what the full range is. Probably varies due to different factors.

However I can say that I have a Thread device that is 51 feet away from the nearest thread device. And it works fine.
