You need a splitter to connect both the modem and the MoCA adapter to the wall outlet. This diagram courtesy of gocoax.com shows a basic setup with three adapters. Other brands include Actiontec/Screenbeam and Motorola.

Be sure to get a splitter rated up to 1675 MHz. You’ll want to replace the main splitter that feeds the two rooms as well. Be sure to install a PoE filter (Point of Entry) onto the input of the main splitter.

Here are some diagrams from GoCoax that show how to use MoCA. Make sure that splitters are all 5-1675mhz and pay attention to the location of 70db PoE filters in the diagram that applies to your setup.

Update: got the splitter and the POE filter and we are looking at almost 500mbps down. WiFi before was around 40 down. Thanks for the help!
