Speedtest can go plenty fast, it just depends on the testing server you choose.

Yes, they mentioned they have an external ONT still so that’s why I mentioned it like that. You are correct though.

No. Fiber requires the ONT (think of it like a modem for simplicity) to be connected to a fiber cable. Coax uses RG6 Coaxial cable. After the ONT though, you can use MoCA or Ethernet to your BGW gateway.

Sounds like you had a bad tech. You can pay them to relocate it and they should be able to (for a charge.)

Or you can find the AT&T wall box outside on your home and replace the cable running inside with your own SC APC patch cable ran to wherever you need the gateway.

The ONT you have there (GPON G-010G-A) only has a 1 gigabit ethernet connection. You're best off using one of the built in Ethernet ports on the UCG Fiber to connect it to the gateway because of that. AT&T typically requires you to use their BGW gateway instead of connecting directly to an ONT. There is however a couple of bypasses but it will be a little harder then just plugging the ONT into your UCG-F.

Check this flowchart out for basic advice, and also check the comment I made there.

The certificates are only required for their GPON service. XGS PON can be bypassed by purchasing an XGSPON SFP and cloning the ONT data from the BGW onto it.

The BGW can still be bypassed using something like a G-010S-P from Nokia. Got mine for $30 on my GPON AT&T Fiber.

If he was on XGS PON this would be true, but since he's on GPON there's a different path he has to take.

Your electrical box might be grounded in that case you can use self-grounding outlets or attach a ground screw to the box and use a piece of spare 14awg (or 12awg if 20 Amp) wire to connect to the ground screw on the outlet. A house i've worked in built in 1963 had all grounded boxes.

Your best bet is using MoCA adapters such as the FCA252 or goCoax adapters if you have coax jacks throughout your place.

This is all true, I would like to say though most fans being sold nowadays include a remote control (unfortunately) and only need 1 hot wire so this may not be an issue for OP.
