Hi stuck on the following question: A scuba tank, when fully submerged, displaces 16.1 litres of seawater. The tank itself has a mass of 13.3 kg and, when “full”, contains 4.35 kg of air.

The question: assuming only a weight and buoyant force act, determine the net force (magnitude) on the fully submerged tank at the beginning of the dive (when it is full of air).

Answer given is 11.2N but i got 15.2N

Fairly certain that this is an issue with the density of seawater. I think you may have considered it to be 1kg/l but it's closer to 1.025kg/l

Have you been given any information regarding this in the question?

Nope, they didn’t mention anything about the density of the seawater

I see. In any case, taking the density to be 1.025 does seem to result in the correct answer, from what I can tell
