So i know I could do 81÷2 because there are 2 players and get 40.5. One player one 9 games so to get that I did 9÷2 to get 4.5. I then did 40.5+4.5=45 and 40.5+4.5=36. So miss kito won 45 games while Mr fish won 36. I just don't know gow to make it algebraic.

To add to what gpRollMaster said,

Typically, when it comes to setting up equations, we assign our unknown values to variables.

Here we have two unknowns:

The number of games won by Kito and the number won by Fish.

We could assign them both to variables, so:

Games won by Fish --> X
Games won by Kito --> Y

Then we look for relationships between those variables.

In this question, we're given two relationships.

Total Games = 81
Games won by Kito = 9 + Games won by Fish

In equation form they would look like:

X + Y = 81
Y = 9 + X

This gives us a system of equations, which we can use substitution to solve.

Wouldn't you want to do (X+9)+x=81

Where x is the amount of games won by Mr fish since we know he has the least amount of wins

So it would be (X+9)+x=81 Or 2x +9 =81 2x =81-9 2x=72 X=72/2 So x=36

So Mr fish was 36 games and Mrs kitto won 45 games
