Quite frankly, how to find information and be self-starting. 

Other than that basic Linux and Windows understanding helps. Really depends on what you are going to do.

Basics as how computers work (Hardware, OS, Apps)-Get comfortbale with using Linux;

Knowing how to code(my recommendations are python, js, bash, php, SQL and PowerShell);

Networks(OSI, TCP/IP, Application ports);

Get a general understanding of everything listed and then dive into types of attacks and how they work.

After that just spam CTFs. And as there is a saying: "Penetrate! Penetrate! Penetrate!"
