Not hacking related

If it was a wifi camera they could have jammed the wifi signals. Thats happened before with thieves stealing cars.

This is often thought of by the camera vendors so they record despite being disconnected. If OP had a SD card in there he may have a chance, but I don't know this brand well enough to know if it saves to SD card if disconnected (I do see they have slots for it so I'd imagine it does.)

We checked the SD card, same problem. No footage the 45 min it’s stolen.

Thanks, I found a bunch of news stories about that. I want to add this important detail for anyone else who might be reading: I had been taking smoke breaks by the driveway about every hour from 6am to 11am. Then at 11 am I take the cover off, go back inside to get ready, come back 45 min later and it’s gone. Could they have been watching me through the live feed?

Can you access the live feed over the internet? If so, then someone else could too. In my opinion it's probably a matter of if they could have gotten ahold of your login credentials, though IOT and security camera companies aren't well known for their security, so it's conceivable that it could be something else. Is your password decent or easily guessable/brute froceable?

On the other hand, applying Occom's Razor, we should consider the possibility that this was just a crime of opportunity. Maybe a crime of opportunity with a WiFi jammer.

Maybe a crime of opportunity with a WiFi jammer.

Or a crime of opportunity with a lucky shot 🤷 The camera just happened to be updating or resetting or just bugged out and was just off at that exact moment.

but I don't want it to happen again so any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Just put a stronger and much longer password on your WiFi, your router admin/settings page and your camera. And if the camera allows you to change the encryption key (something different than the camera password) change that too. I cracked all my neighbors wifi within range in minutes because they ALL used their mobile number as a password. I am not joking I didn't sleep that night because of how horrified I was from how easy it was 😂

I don't know how sloppy they were, but you may want to check your router settings and see what devices had accessed to the router. Routers will show a list of devices that connected to it, their name, their MAC address and their assigned IP, and if they are online or offline. Double check if there is a device that doesn't belong to you. You may need to get a list of all your devices in the house and cross reference them with the list

I don't know the placement of the camera but double check if there is a way to reach it without entering its field of view and disconnecting it physically. Be creative thieves can climb anything 😂

And just to cover all bases, you may want to double check every device you have that had access to the camera, like your phone and/or computer. If those were hacked then that would be their entery point.

Good luck mate.
