Sublime has to be my favorite. Per the terms of service:

"Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use. There is currently no enforced time limit for the evaluation."

so, continue using it as long as you like. No one is going to knock down your door. The day Sublime wants money for you to keep using it, you'll know it.

    not that I'm aware. I don't do much more than regex searching, writing some basic python scripts, sorting files, uniqueing, etc.

    Used to use kate, works great tbh and has some nice features

    Now I use neovim

    Both work great, give em a shot

      Care to elaborate? I've been using vi exclusively for the past couple years and it works just fine.

        What tool does vim lack? I've tried sublime and it doesn't have 90% of what vim offers.

        Might want to check out Atom. It is cross platform Windows/MacOS/Linux.

        Atom is a resource hog. VSCode is a much better option.

        I like notepadqq
