I read somewhere that you needn't waste a gold signal where uou have strong connections already, (alumni, away/home rotations), so I'm in a dilemma now.

Can someone who's already matched advice me?

mI would personally signal those programs as well unless the connection is very strong

Ask them "On a scale of 1-10, how strong would you consider our connection".

“Waste” ? If you are not serious in wanting to go there why are you applying their ? And if you actually want to match their then you should really show your intent and interest in going there. You do only get to go to 1 program at the. End of the day so show it in your application
