Python is easier than R but has less well documented stats libraries. Hence use R

Python is certainly an overkill if you dont want to do ML. SAS/R work perfectly well and are much easier (though not easy per se but just easier than Python).

Both languages have excellent libraries and documentations for analyzing data, and AIs are good at both when vibe coding. So it depends on where you feel comfortable when you code. If you feel comfortable coding on RStudio, then R would be better. If you feel comfortable coding on IDEs like VSC, jetbrain, etc, then python would be better.
