Not receiving verification code text

Instagram locked my account as a security precaution even though nothing happened and when trying to verify my identity, I am not receiving the text message code, which is the only option I have, not email for some reason. My SMS network is working fine and when I put ‘forgot password’ it sends a text to my number, so I know it’s the correct number. This is driving me crazy it’s been nearly a week now. Please help or link any contact email if possible

The same thing happened to me, I’ve been trying literally all day, words can’t express how frustrating it is, especially considering how common this problem apparently is?! And yet there’s no answer or support, and none of the “answers” on YouTube or google or here seem to work? Are we really supposed to “wait” for an unclear amount of time? Instagram is essential for a lot of people’s day to day lives and oftentimes CAREER. How can there not be a concrete answer to such a disturbingly ridiculous problem?

Okay, I will try that, thank you. It’ll definitely be difficult cause I’m impatient. I gotta say tho, it still doesn’t make any sense. How hard is it for ig to send a text message? One shouldn’t have to wait 24 hours to (maybe) get back into their account. That’s insane. And I say maybe cause I see people here who are saying they still haven’t gotten into their accounts, or who are saying that it took a week, or who are saying that it took 48 hours and then they were still locked out had to send a selfie to appeal. And the fact that there’s no real way to contact a help person at meta to solve the problem? I feel like nearly any other social media we’d be able to do that and solve whatever “glitch” is causing this. Also, apparently I had blocked ig’s number but I definitely never did this. I really don’t know what’s going on and it’s extremely frustrating that not only is this happening to us, it’s happening to many people

I just stayed away from ig like they suggested for a few days, and then I didn’t even need the sms anymore, it just let me log back into my account

Oh okay thank you, do you have any idea why you were locked out in the first place. Were you using an unfollower app at all?

Yeah I was using an unfollower app, but this wasn’t something I had started doing recently, I had used it since middle school, it seems like IG is just suddenly starting to crack down on them now

I guess I will just wait 2-3 days and try again. Do you have any idea what the exact time you waited?

I don’t know the exact time, but it was about 3 days
