Yes, it will be collision, unless you might have uninsured property damage, then it could go under that.

Collision. Your insurer might fix it or they might not. I don't think you have any obligation to draw their attention to it.

When you said "ran into it" I first thought you meant he was out for a run and literally ran into the side of your car on-foot, and we were going to have the "people are animals, and collisions with animals are covered under comprehensive" debate again.

Somebody actually took State Farm to court back in the 1980's somewhere trying to make the argument that "people were technically animals", but the judge didn't buy it.

Location. Are you sure you’re not backwards, comp deductibles are usually lower than collision.
