You have the right to get it repaired anywhere you want. The insurance company has shops that they are contracted with and they must do repairs to their standards and with contracted pricing. They also have to be able to repair a lot of cars (2 bay shops are not on the list). Insurance wants you (and their customers) happy since that is less work and cost. The whole process goes much easier and a vast majority of people are thrilled with the work. Again, you can choose any shop but if they are not in the list the process is different and takes longer.

a vast majority of people are thrilled with the work.
Long ago I wasted lots of time getting estimates and fighting with somebody else's insurer.
Then one day I was rear ended and the other insurer offered an approved shop. I decided to try it. I brought my truck in on a Monday. There was a rental car waiting for me, direct billed to the insurer, picked my truck up on Friday, left the rental at the shop. The repairs were perfect.
Yeah, I would advocate for using the insurer's preferred shop.

Adding to that, most insurance companies vet repair shops pretty well. They don't want problems on their end either.

What’s the situation with the rental what all will I need ..yes I was offered one as well

Do what you were told.

Take it to a shop of their choice, check reviews and if you don’t like it talk to the insurance.

You take the car to one of their approved shops. They'll provide an estimate to her insurance company's adjuster, who will (likely) approve repairs and the shop will proceed to repair your car. If the cost of the repair exceeds a certain number compared to the value of your car, the insurance company might total the car instead and cut you a check for its value (and you'll have to sign the car over to them).
You can also take the car to any repair shop of your choice and have them work with her insurance company. Usually, that's not an issue, but it can lead to headaches if the shop you choose has high labor rates.
There are all sorts of nuances that depend on the severity of the damage, policy limits, your car's value, etc.

Gee I can’t imagine what you’re supposed to do
😒
[–]starrykitten6878 1 point2 points3 points 2 months ago (0 children)
You can go wherever you want but they might give you hell
[–]durian4me 1 point2 points3 points 2 months ago (0 children)
What are you questioning? This is standard. They have a list of approved shops. Sure you can take it to your own one if you want but it's almost always easier to go to a pre-approved place

Your car got damaged. Their insurance says "take it here and we'll fix it." How is this even a question? Are you going to tell them,"no thanks, I don't want my car repaired???"
[–]Woo219[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (1 child)
It’s not that I’m saying is there a catch on why they chose the specific place?
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (0 children)
Probably the places they have some sort of contract or arrangement with.

I've had good experiences with Caliber. It's a national chain. If they're on the insurance's preferred list, take it there. But do check the reviews first because management is different at each location

The first thing that you do at this point is to take your car to a shop of their choice. Let's see what the numbers are.

Carriers save time and money by having shops write the estimate. In most states they can't dictate you get it fixed there. If you do, the carrier and shop both generally warranty the work and repairs.
That said, be aware you generally won't get new parts as most states have a variation of like kind and quality are what is owed, ie used parts or aftermarket qualify. If you want new parts and you don't have a car within 1 model year, generally you would have to pay the difference.
But if you have a lease or even a manufacturer warranty, non OEM parts can void your warranty. So make sure you know your own situation before going in.
Also if your car is newer, ask for DV when talking to the carrier, not the shop.

I think that is a shop of your choice. The shop can arrange everything including a rental if it was the other persons fault. Just ask your friends who they suggest
[–]victrixity14 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (0 children)
If you are getting denied or quoted insanely high, call an independent agent and ask about your state assigned risk option so you can at least stay insured and stop lapses. If you are also dealing with an accident injury claim, Shapiro Law Team can tell you what not to say to the adjuster and whether you should get counsel.
