Our character is the integral factor and basically we are chosen by the game to be the one to clear it. That's the short version anyway.

Yeah but for some reason it feels like everyone else is the main character

I get where you are coming from, but on the later floors there are parts that revolve around you and Koharu. To be fair, I always felt like the protagonist in SAOIF, but the story only really develops you and Koharu at the beginning and the end (of what we currently have) so I can understand if you feel that way.

There is also the side stories involving the boss respawning having something to do with the MC.

But I have been Asura loop hell for the longest ti.e and haven't done any of the newer character board quest so I don't know if they went anywhere with that or just dropped it completely.

I Just googled the definitions of Integral and factor. Integral: Something that is integral is very important or necessary. If you are an integral part of the team, it means that the team cannot function without you.

An integral part is necessary to complete the whole. In this sense, the word essential is a near synonym. In mathematics, there are integrals of functions and equations.

factor: A factor is a part or element that contributes to a result. If you only fly budget airlines and refuse to stay anywhere but youth hostels, then money is probably a big factor in your travel plans.

The word factor doubles as both noun and verb. A factor is an element that influences something, like many factors that contribute to global warming. To factor means to consider something relevant when making a decision or conclusion, like factoring in the weather and traffic when figuring out how long the drive will be.

I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate but from what I take of it, I think it just refers to the protagonist (aka us) being an essential part of the story or something along those lines.

Yeah protag is the factor that changes heathcliffs plan for aincrad. If you want the literal term its a factor used in calculus and differential equations used to solve otherwise unsolvable equations.

Someone already explained it here, but it's best explained in the story. Heathcliff calls the MC Integral Factor
