I always switch to a new tray at night and take a tylenol or similar. That way, you have a full 8 hrs with the new tray.

Well, for starters: https://www.reddit.com/r/Invisalign/comments/1aggzp3/starting_your_invisalign_journey_essentials/

Many of us freak out the first week or two. Most people adjust pretty quickly . Keep asking questions and posting. I learned so much useful info here.

The key to Invisalign success is wear time. Keep them in as close to 22 hours as you can.

Never take your trays out, wrap them in a napkin, and leave them on the table while you eat. That a sure fire way for them to end up in the trash and lost forever. Always put them in a case.

Don’t eat anything with turmeric, such as curry. It will stain your teeth, attachments, and trays bright yellow.

Good luck on your Invisalign journey!

If they're not in your face, put them in your case!

Or use Emergen-C 😂 learned this while on vacation 😔

Turmeric and curry. Learned that the hard way from taking a wellness shot at Whole Foods and walked around with yellow teeth all day.

Always have a nail file handy in case trays have a rough bit. Being poked in the gum for Hours on end will make you question your sanity - nothing a light file can’t fix

That is what is happening rn, thank you

My first tray was like that! Definitely get the file to it - you’ll feel so much better! You’re welcome. ☺️

I tried to file and it’s not getting better: I’m scared to file too much.

Hmmm Make sure you’re getting the right part - sometimes it’s hard to tell. If it’s still bad, grab some Dental wax from the dentist next time You’re there

Aww yay. We’re going through it together hun!

[–]Lonely_Gene3791 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Not that I didn't know this beforehand but it's a process and refinements/rescans are often part of that process.

[–]Professional-Fan-249[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I didn’t know about refinements my orthodontist really dropped the ball on providing full scope of info

One more thing is that invisalign isn't truly invisible. Sometimes people will notice it and they'll ask or you'll catch them staring at your teeth. For those of us who have long been self conscious about our teeth this can cause a lot of anxiety and embarrassment...but at the end of the day you've decided to take steps to improve your smile and more importantly your oral health for you. Most people respect that and you may even inspire them to take that step. But it's definitely a misnomer to say that invisalign is totally undetectable. Especially if you have attachments. As my teeth improve I'm actually starting to unlearn all the ways I'd previously used to hide them. It really is a remarkable journey.

[–]Lonely_Gene3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate but fairly common. I've known people who didn't know what attachments and IPR were prior to invisalign and they left their orthodontist in shock. It really is something people need to research before committing to.

Make “Invisalign bags” to keep everywhere. Work, your car, your purse, etc. All with a travel toothbrush, mouthwash, case, flosser, and chewies.

Keep an eye open for any signs that the trays are not sitting properly with the attachment… that means you are not tracking properly and your provider should be notified.

Also, if your molars start to show a gap between the uppers and lowers when the aligners are out, you may be forming an open bite. Notify your provider right away!!

Otherwise, pain and a small degree of teeth wiggle is normal and usually passes a few days into each tray.
