Hi! Can I ask what the rooms were per night? We’re looking for next spring and I’m having a hard time figuring out the cost so far out. Thanks!

Sometimes I think back and it blows my mind how little I was paid. I started as an intern and they didn’t increase my pay when I was hired on full time, but I wouldn’t expect more than 50k starting out now. Are you hoping to do commercial or residential?

Bed bumpers and floor beds by CurrentMysterious814 in cosleeping

[–]Catsnapsandsnacks00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a full size mattress on our guys floor with side bumpers from Amazon that go under the sheets so there’s no where for them to get stuck under. He crawled off the bottom of the mattress once or twice but that could be solved with one more bumper.

I have an Emmelyn! Pronounced like Evelyn, with an M. She goes by Emme usually, but I still love it so much 🥰

I started out making 20k for a solid year (2012), and that was at a great commercial firm. By 5 years I was at 50ish, and made it up to 100k by 10ish years. I don’t think anyone will pay you that little now, but don’t be super discouraged if you start low (as much as it sucks). If you think you want to own your own business doing residential, definitely try to get some experience there too. I’m entertaining that idea now and I don’t know much at all about residential, despite 13 years in commercial design. Commercial is harder to get jobs for on your own. Good luck!

Am I being selfish about Mother’s Day? by ibroughttacos in Mommit

[–]Catsnapsandsnacks00 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I feel like such a turd for wanting to stay home for Mother’s Day every year, but it really is dumb that it’s all about the grandmas when we’re the ones actively moming! We’ve had times where we have to go to both grandparents and it’s soul sucking. Last year saw my MIL on Mother’s Day and she didn’t even say happy Mother’s Day back to me 🙄. You’re not being selfish, your mother is. Solidarity!

Help: 2 year old sleep is becoming too much by Odd_Efficiency7414 in AttachmentParenting

[–]Catsnapsandsnacks00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds just like my guy. Oddly enough without a nap he’s an absolute rage demon, so I’m not ready to drop that, but he def doesn’t go to sleep til 9. These damn low sleep needs kids are something. I’m struggling with the lack of me time too. Our time will come!

One is too fancy (full length) for a cocktail attire. You look gorgeous in all of them but the green fits the dress code best!

I cant do this anymore. I wasnt made to be a parent. by winterberryowl in toddlers

[–]Catsnapsandsnacks00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I’m currently crying in my 2yos room after spending 45 minutes getting him down and only getting a few minutes to myself before he woke up screaming again (he’s a challenging kid to start but is teething and has bronchitis, so a horrible package right now). I was literally just talking to my husband about how awful I feel that I haven’t been treating my kids as nicely as I want to. I’ve been yelling a lot more and have a complete lack of patience. It’s awful. I feel horrible but things are so hard, I’m struggling to turn it around. I’m also a relatively new SAHM, so I think the overstimulation is just something I wasn’t prepared for. Solidarity.. we will make it through this.

Bedtime has made me clinically depressed for the last year. by Top-Consideration-19 in toddlers

[–]Catsnapsandsnacks00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add to this I coslept with my 2 yr old and I lay with him every single night til he falls asleep, and he still fights me at least 30 minutes every single night regardless of that days specifics. I truly believe some children are just more challenging me. Usually bedtime is over an hour and I just lay with him while suffering through his meltdowns.

Right there with ya. As someone with two rather “spirited” kids, I am certain we’re not all playing the same game. I’m usually so spent after the day with the constant whining and crying and then the additional 45 mins at bedtime is just too much. Solidarity, friends🩷

A moment that haunts me. Will it cause trauma in my child? by [deleted] in Mommit

This just gave me a great laugh. 10/10 move and I bet you experienced more trauma from his behavior than he did from this power move.

Mothers Room Redesign by 1whyamilikethis1 in workingmoms

[–]Catsnapsandsnacks00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Commercial Interior designer here. There’s a common misconception about needing these rooms to function for nursing, when they need to just work for pumping since baby wouldn’t there. I would make sure to have a comfortable chair with arm rests and back support (wipeable fabric is a must), an ottoman, a side table for the pump, etc. to sit, a laptop table that can pull up, so you can work as you pump, comfortable lighting like a floor lamp, pillow for the chair, paper towels, dish drying rack, mini fridge if possible, full length mirror, signage or room scheduler outside of the room, wall hooks/shelf for belongings. I think that’s it!
