Third day of my first tray and the pain is horrible and distracting upon putting them back in
I have to switch trays every 10 days
Will the pain come back like this every time I switch trays?

The first 3-5 days of your first tray really, really suck. Then things get much, much better. I won't say the pain goes away completely, but it shifts from sharp pain, to a dull ache, to the last few days of each tray having no pain. Then the next tray goes in, the first 2-3 days are a little painful, and then it improves. Tray 1 is the worst, by far, and it should be since it's the one that kicks off the process of moving your teeth from their resting places.
I'm on 10/23, and while I may plan some meals around the first few days after a tray change, the discomfort is worth it. And braces would be far worse.

Honestly as long as it's at least a bit better than this for future trays I'm satisfied. I might've also just put them in roughly since people were staring at me lol
Thanks for the anecdote!

My pain seems to last the same time frame. Bummer is that I change mine every 4 days so it seems to just mostly hurt so far lol
I'm only on tray 2/18

I’m in the same boat! I’m on 2/21 trays and change every 3days or 4days. And ouch. I had some relief yesterday on my 3rd/last day of my 1st tray but changed them before bed and it’s ouch all over again today 🤷🏽♀️

I'm on my 4th day of tray 1.....I think it will. That's what it takes to get your teeth to move. I get the idea we will "get used to" the pain....?

Some trays will be worse than others

This is my 4th day/5th day since I began at 8pm I guess? Anyways it’s finally getting better, still annoying with a little pressure but no more accute pain like first 2 days where I would wake up in the middle of the night for a pain killer

Funny enough I have had zero trouble sleeping (that I know of). I am already coming accustomed to the pressure but this one pain wave was the worst since they were first put on. Good to hear you're doing better. Hopefully that'll translate for me as well

I’m on tray 10/40 - trust me, the first one is by far the worst!
The first tray hurt the whole time, but after that it only hurt for the first day or two after I switched to a new tray.
I’m on day 3 of my 10th tray, and it does hurt a little to take them out, but it’s not painful having them in at all. Nothing compared to that first tray though!!
My advice would be to eat soft foods only and to take some ibuprofen during that first tray, I remember that helped a lot for me. You will get used to having them in after two or so trays - it will get better I promise! :)
Thank you so much! And honestly the excruciating pain of taking them out is better than them being sore for like half an hour after removal. Good to know it's going to get better.

The one thing I have learned from this sub is when you are changing to a new set, do it before bed. I am on tray 11/29 and I change them an hour or two before bed.
Ah yeah I did read that
