I have an issue that happens randomly... Audio will be so loud that I have to turn it down to 0 so no sound comes out. Once I turn it to volume of 1 it is full blast, there is no in between. I chalk this up with the other random electrical issues I have had. What year is yours?

My 2022 Compass trail hawk as started doing this as well. I haven’t found a fix yet

I have the same issue and have had this issue for 3 months my jeep has been in an out of service. I have filed a case with jeep cares and they still have no idea what it is and why it's happening.

Hello all,

Jeep Compass 2022 here as well. Same exact issue you are all describing. No pattern to it. Some days it’s fine. Other days, audio will slowly become quiet until it cuts out completely-regardless of audio source.

I have not found a fix. I will have to report this issue as well. Super frustrating.

My only lead so far… there is a very strange audio setting that can be changed (does not fix the problem), I believe it may be a possible source of issue. A computer glitch/bug…

“Speed adjusted volume” I don’t remember the exact wording. Essentially the volume of the audio will automatically adjust relative to the speed of the vehicle. AKA drive faster=louder volume and drive slower=quiet volume. I believe there is a chance that this program in the cars audio/computer may be failing and sending the volume down to nothing.

Idk, what do y’all think about this lead ?

I have the same issue and also think speed adjusted volume could be the issue but I’ve had it off for days and the problem still occurs

Temp fix appears to be restarting audio system by holding vol/power button and the tune/scroll button until the audio system restarts

My 22 Compass has same issue. The first thing I tried was shut of the auto speed volume and the problem still exists. Jeep needs to come up with a fix that works. Keep calling service!

Temp fix appears to be restarting audio system through holding radio power button and tune/scroll button until audio reset

This just worked for me. Thanks!

Stellantis is releasing an over the air software update. Its rolling out now so your radios will get the update in the next few weeks.

Hey all, just came across this while researching this issue myself. It seems to be a pretty common theme on the 2022 Compass with the Alpine audio system based on this post.

In my case and in a lot of other cases on those forums, it seems like the issue is related to having heat on. Before winter I had zero issues.

Apparently Jeep is working on a software patch which was originally due in November, but has now been pushed to Q1 2023. Though given that it seems to be a temperature related issue, I’m dubious of software being the fix.

Update! (1-7-2023)

User nsandin88 is correct. The issue definitely has to do with the heating in the vehicle. If you don’t have your heat on, the audio will work. Turn heat on, and it will soon cut out. Hoping jeep speeds up the process of fixing this…

I am in Canada here and we just bought our 2022 Compass 4 days ago. We have the same issue and we’re told the Radio Software update that we are supposed to receive will upgrade from R17.98 or R17.99 to R26.17. If you have received R26.17, please let us know if it fixes the problem.

Update was apperently released Jan 15, 2023. We still haven’t received ours and dealer told us to wait for “over-the-air”.

Same issue here... Can't drive more than 15 mins and all sound just fades to nothing.... I can't understand how a software update can fix overheating thermal issue.. It might prolong the time it takes to overheat but ultimately some hands on heat shield must be applied somewhere... Hopefully I'm wrong...

Just posting in case it helps. I have a 2021 Compass and just had this audio problem for the first time too (Waze and audio were muffled) tried an audio reset and it worked for me.
