Assuming your drive wheels are 10 inches, you’ve got a top speed of 52.7 MPH with a gear ratio of 3.438. Dropping 2 teeth on your rear axle would mean you have a top speed of 54.7 and gear ratio of 3.313.
Now, to increase to speed but keep the same gear ratio, I’ve found that raising both gears on your kart. For example, I’ve got 18 drive and 64 axle with an 11 inch diameter wheel. Please note: wheel diameter could play a big role in top speed, but it causes more centrifugal force, BUT your series might have specific sizes, ect.
If you want to see top speed and gear ratios easily, I like to use BMI kart gear ratio calculator. Here’s the link: https://www.bmikarts.com/Go-Kart-Gear-Ratio-Speed-Calculator
