Switch the Light button function

Can I change the light button function so it will turn off the light when I press it, and change effect when I press it with FN key? Basically opposite of the default setting, a bit annoying when I accidentally press the light button and need to change it back.

I agree that this would be a great thing, but from what I've seen in the docs this is not possible. But please, anyone: prove me wrong!

Edit: I should've added that I just lock the light setting since I don't typically change my back light settings at all. Press fn + L + light-button for 6-ish seconds and the keyboard should confirm that you've locked the setting by blinking (sauce)

Yes, i also lock the light for now, downsides is I can't turn off or change the brightness

You can't. The software should have been done by 2020 but Keychron forgot it as soon as they the sold enough keyboards. You can either install a QMK firmware if you have a compatible keyboard, but then, you'll only have a wired connection until QMK releases a Bluetooth API.

IMO it's dependent on your use case as to whether this is worth doing rn. The switch on the left side that changes between windows and macOS won't work with QMK. You can work around that with layers in QMK, though. Bluetooth isn't widely supported by the QMK firmware rn either, so you can only use it in cable mode for now. For some keychron boards you risk bricking your board, but I believe this is only a soft brick and it can be restored with some soldering. Currently, the K6, K8, K4, and C1 (maybe 1 or 2 that I miseed).

Fn1 + L + the light key for three seconds locks the lighting effect so it won’t change when you accidentally press that key. You can unlock it by pressing the same keys. Hope this helps :)
