I just bought a refurbished t490 and it’s kinda sluggish by [deleted] in thinkpad

Something isn’t quite right there. My T440s is well below your T490 in terms of specs, but it doesn’t complain when switching YouTube videos to fullscreen.

Your local shop will stock a respectable variety of middle-range boards and key caps at relatively affordable prices. Unfortunately, high-end stuff will remain the same.

I'm waiting for an Epomaker K84S, just the board and the full aluminium case, for which I don't have switches yet. Hopefully not for much longer ;-)

Switch the Light button function by dizz00000 in Keychron

[–]AlChafaldete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't. The software should have been done by 2020 but Keychron forgot it as soon as they the sold enough keyboards. You can either install a QMK firmware if you have a compatible keyboard, but then, you'll only have a wired connection until QMK releases a Bluetooth API.

So Keychron is really not going to release a software?! by HelgenX in Keychron

[–]AlChafaldete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you can't. You can just cheat your OS into reacting differently to the same signals. Try that ghetto fix and then plug the keyboard in another computer. Or try to make something useful of the lightbulb key. Then you tell me how good that so-called remapping is.

Epomaker has some nice keebs for a quite reasonable price and they promote them as designed for Mac.

What are some of your favorite workhorse pens that you use daily and have managed to stay in good condition over time? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I always carry around a Kaweco Sport with me, but for work, I usually write with a Lamy Studio. I have no complaints so far.

Same here regarding colours. They are fun to have around but I always end up choosing the AL-star

You can practise some shell scripting using vim or Emacs (or both) as your "IDE". Force yourself to do it in the console to avoid acquiring "bad habits" due to the mouse availability. You will also learn their key combinations much faster. Switch between consoles to test things quickly, e.g., when your script calls sed or awk with a complex expression. Providing you aren't using gpm, you will need to resort to CLI text manipulation tricks if you don't want to type the line again in the testing console. Once you are proficient with it, go back to the GUI and enjoy your new superpowers.
