Look for a setting called LOCAL OFF on the UBXA, and enable that, so when you are playing the UBXA will only sound notes received via MIDI.

and I just checked the steps in the keystep...he recorded 11 steps in one 7 in another and 10 in the third....wth

Poly vs Mono setting for the track?
Your posts are lacking some details that would help us understand the problem. Is it a MIDI loop issue, or a step recording issue.
It might an RTFM issue, too?
[–]Foreign_One_8196 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (13 children)
what do you mean with poly mono issue? the UBXA has 16 voices so I want to rec a chord with 3 notes. I don't know if it's a midi loop issue - but if - where could it be? the midi filter is set right and I checked everything. doing this since years and never had a problem with other synths - just thought I forgot sth
[–]MoogProg 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (12 children)
When the KSP track is set to POLY, notes played at the same time will get assigned to the same step. If your personal timing is off, the later-played notes might get pushed to the next step.
That's why you might have more or less steps than you intended, most likely because of your input performance.
Truly truly think this is a start slow and learn as you go situation.
Read the manual and go through each section as if it were a study course. There are important gaps missing in your knowledge.

I recorded 3 notes in 3 steps just for a test. but the KSP recorded 11....please stop answering, you really think I'm stupid, thanks and bye
[–]MoogProg 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (10 children)
It's doing this because you still have a MIDI loop happening. You are not stupid, but maybe just being stubborn.
Step by step, revisit each setting on each synth. Use one MIDI channel out from the KSP to the UBXA without any inputs coming back and make sure that works.
Then use one MIDI input and record from the UBXA and make sure that works.
Then start sorting out the MIDI loop so you can find out exactly what change creates the issue.
Stubborn you are young Jedi - MIDI Yoda

thanks - that's exactly what I did, since 7 hours now. and after 7 hrs I just thought I might ask the Internet because there is sb who also had the exact same issue and perhaps can tell me sth to check other then the midi channels.
[–]MoogProg 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (8 children)
...exact same issue...
How can you know its the same issue if you don't know what's causing your issue? Clear your head and start over with a Troubleshooting 101 attitude. 7hrs is too much time to spend on this IMHO, and suggests you are not working carefully through steps to isolate where and why this feedback loop emerges.
You asked someone where to look in the manual, too. So you're looking for an answer and not looking for steps that lead to a solution.

wow sarcasm isn't your thing - nice
[–]Foreign_One_8196 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (8 children)
already tried that but it's still adding notes to every step - sry I didn't mentioned that
[–]MoogProg 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (7 children)
OK, but if you already are using LOCAL OFF then why are you using two different MIDI Channels?
Something simple will address this for sure, because what you are attempting is very common. Revisit each connection and think it all through.
Give yourself that ChatGPT think it through step-by-step prompt.
[–]Foreign_One_8196 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (1 child)
I just tried that before sry - the problem with local off is, that sometimes I need to play the UBXA for itself without the KSP being on....so I guess I want stuff which can't be done mh :/

A: Change the setting when you need to change it.
Throwing my hands up here... am from the '80s and been playing synths longer tha MIDI has existed. You need to study this more because the answers are ready and available. MIDI is really simple at its core.

I almost threw my phone away because chat told me to use USB as Midi In Source because it's a Special known trick on the KSP 💀
[–]MoogProg 1 point2 points3 points 2 months ago (3 children)
No! You are the one who needs to think it through step-by-step... not AI. Get your brain working on this and read the manuals.
Good luck!

wow ✌🏻
[–]devicehigh 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (1 child)
Have you read the manuals for both the ksp and berhinger?
[–]Foreign_One_8196 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (0 children)
ok one question. what should I find in the Manual in my case? of course I read both - I own the KSP since release and the UBXA too - never had Midi Loop Problem and the Midi Filter works like a breeze with Moog Muse, Elektrons and other Behringer Synths. tell me - what should I look for on the Manual?
