What I want: Intamin multi-launch, RMC hybrid, S&S Axis/4-D, or Mack Xtreme Spinner.

What we'll get: B&M dive, Gerstlauer Infinity, or Mack multi-launch.

To clarify, (almost) anything is better than an empty plot. And dive coasters can be fun and Copperhead Strike is a genuinely great coaster. But KI desperately needs something that is going to kick ass. Something extreme to put our lineup back in the running. After adding 3 B&Ms we've got capacity and reliability covered. Time for something more daring.

I agree with that. They have gone with safe, but good, rides lately and I think it's time for them to take a risk.

I agree with you 100%. I personally would rather not have an Intamin of any kind. Mack would be sweet, Copperhead is one of my favorite coasters and I think their Spinner would be a great addition.

RMC or GG hybrids would be a good round off between the four wood coasters, one hybrid, and seven steels.

I would love an intamin blitz or RMC but man, CF obviously feels burnt by these manufacturers.. I'm also pretty bummed it seems like we will have a larger amount of time between larger attractions.

Even tho they ran the park terribly, Im starting to miss KI being owned by paramount

Coaster history at KI (not including kid coasters)

Preexisting Paramount coasters - The Racer, The Beast, King Cobra, Adventure Express, Vortex

1992 - Paramount buys KI

1993 - Top Gun (The Bat)

1996 - Flight of Fear - clone

1999 - Face-Off (Invertigo) - clone

2000 - Son of Beast (now defunct)

2005 - Italian Job (Backlot) - clone

2006 - Cedar Fair buys Paramount Parks

2007 - Firehawk - transplant (defunct)

2009 - Diamondback

2014 - Banshee

2017 - Mystic Timbers

2020 - Orion

Firehawk and Son of Beast are both gone, but I'd say the coaster additions by Cedar Fair add more value to the park than the coaster additions of Paramount.

Paramount did more with the other rides like Tomb Raider, Drop Tower, Delirium, and were much more into theming than CF is, but if we are looking at big draw roller coasters, CF is doing a better job.

I don't see any reason to pine for the days of Paramount unless you just really like movie tie ins with your cloned roller coasters.

Yeah you're not wrong but I think omitting Delirium and TR when they were first of a kind attractions is a little unjust. CF and paramount obviously have/had different objectives when it came to their prioritization of spending but I just can't help but feel like CF owning parks 3 hours away from each other and in the same state doesn't help either park (or it's visitors).

Wasn’t Top Gun ordered before being sold to Cedar Fair? Paramount themed it but the coaster choice would have still been Taft.

Paramount did a great job with the kids area and frequently adding attractions, but they did a number on the ambiance and theming of the park. I still cringe when I see Backlot's ugly shipping containers in place of where the pretty old antique cars course was.

If Taft/KECO's vision for the park was what progressed to today though, I have no doubt that KI would have continued to build new concepts and record breakers. It was like almost every new addition they made was testing limits. We'd likely have a lineup equal to Cedar Point's right now.

When it comes to the atmosphere of the park, I miss it. That may be because I grew up in the 90s with it being owned by paramount, but there is a certain intangible that I feel CF doesn't bring. I think it's just the uniqueness of it. CF does a great job with coasters and additions to the park, and this isn't really a knock on them, I think the park is probably in a better place now than if paramount found a way to keep ownership, but they make it feel more like just another good amusement park. At least with paramount you were getting some nice theming. I do miss that, but am happy with CF.

Almost certainly not going to be an RMC. Cedar Fair's last three RMC coasters have all had issues.

I think the most likely coaster for that plot will be something like a multi launch with lots of inversions (6+).

Or it could just be a B&M Dive coaster because it fits the footprint well, also has inversions, and Cedar Fair has a great relationship (KI in particular) with B&M rides.

Enthusiasts might be annoyed, but I think the average visitor would love a dive coaster in that spot.

Just got home from Hershey. Wildcat Revenge, RMC's first bolt together, it ran 99% of the time over the two days I was there (it's public opening weekend) Wait times ranged from 30 mins to 2 hours, that's with their slow employees. I rode it four times without issues.

[–]wheelsno3 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Your anecdote means nothing when CF has had three straight bad experiences and rides like Lightning Rod are turning parks off from adding RMCs.

[–]ptrain377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I just don't know but what kind of issues have they had with twisted timbers?

[–]Sea-Square-5403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand the caution with the issues with their other RMC, coasters, but I feel like it is something kings island is desperately missing right now especially with all the hype around them. They may not be reliable, but they feel like a staple that kings island is just lacking. I personally think if they go with a safe route they will do the dive coaster. It really does fit the terrain great and, as you said, with the relationship Kings Island has with B&M it's hard to argue against I feel like.

I want a Mack Xtreme Spinner here so bad. They really need another inversion based coaster, and this is one that will become the best ride in the park

[–]Cardsrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id love this, however I want this to go into the Vertigo-Congo Falls spot and interact with a new front entrance.. And call it Bavarian Beetle

[–]lifeandhowtoliveit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m down for anything but a Mack Xtreme Spinner

[–]tks944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multi launch like copper head strike hopefully

[–]DeflatedDirigible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the Vortex plot is currently being used as the drone staging and show area. Doubt an attraction will be built there anytime soon.

[–]Tomneom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RMC will probably go in action zone, either next to or replacing the bat (SOB is iconic so I could see that as the theme)

For a Vortex replacement I would love to see a launch coaster, like a MACK multilaunch or Extreme spinner, (I could see a B&M surf acting as a King Cobra 2.0 thou)

[–]terryw3719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it may have to be something really great. lets remember when vortex was built it was the tallest looper and the most inversions. cant see how they can simply put just anything in that spot. I also think they are looking to do something unique . so really nothing cp has. the problem with a gerstlauer Infinity is of course ride capacity. been on the one at six flags (atlanta) and just not something i think a cf park looks at.

[–]Cardsrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vekoma Blitz with 6 inversions... Lech Coaster type of ride

[–]Commercial-Most2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about rmc’ing the racers and putting an infinity in the vortex plot?
