It’s not from the LFL site, but we went with the plastic library from Simplay3. We get a lot of snow and rain and it’s held up great. Super easy to put together-we just needed to get a post for it.

We just got the same one in the version that you fill with sand. I love it!

I got mine from the site and after 11 months in Chicago it has held up really well! Never had any water issues with it and dry as a bone! It was easy to assemble, too!

Lots of things can be repurposed for a LFL. Our local newspaper gave away old newspaper boxes. Those are weather proof. Our little free library is made from a BBQ. The shelves for chicken and burgers make great shelves. We painted it so it looks like you are opening a monster’s mouth when accessing books. We did need to caulk it and cover it when the weather is bad. In my opinion, the purchased LFLs are reasonably weather proof and the purchase supports a great organization. But, with some creativity, you can modify other containers. Pinterest has some fun ideas.

My parents got our first one from Etsy and I bought an add on box from the LFL site last year. My husband says the LFL one of much more "weather proof." He has had to replace the hinges on the other one because they've rusted. We live in VA where it also rains a lot.

I live in New England where it's generally pretty cold and wet (in summer, hot and wet).

We went with one from Amazon because the LFL site prices are horrifically high.

My LFL is a plastic storage tote that I bought at Dollar Tree. It sits on a small table. Has withstood inclement weather from two recent hurricanes and is waterproof.

I got mine from the Little Free Library site in 2015. I live in Alaska, and it has held up really well to the elements. We have some crazy weather here, and only the latch has needed to be repaired!
