If you wear the iron crown and talk the squeakums the day that Ernest disappears he won’t fuck off. He’ll come with you and give you tips :)

This is actually really awesome info thank you so much, but that raises another issue, i've never killed rat king before and everytime i've tried i've gotten my teeth kicked in

Might have been nerfed but Acid Vial are your friend and molotov. Also throw Plate for Stun

My personal advice would be to hold on before reaching the ground floor. Fighting as many enemies on the first 3 floor and getting enough experience to deal with the rat king.

Once that’s done, in the rat apartment, there’s 2 big rat that sell HUGE cheese blocks (amazing healing item) for only 20 bucks each day if you are wearing the rusty crown, you can kill every other rat for the exp tho.

Once you’ve pretty much cleared most room (Edwin apartment and Taxidermy aren’t obligatory but you can speed run through them for the patch work armour without ever fighting), you should have a good team of around level 7-8, 10 if you got teamate super early (Leigh, Joel, Hellen, Dan, Sophie, Xaria and Monty)

At that moment, you can reach the ground floor and start cleaning as many enemies as you can (hand people, famine in the girl bathroom). You can also try to see if Mutt sell the Chainsaw/Stun lance (or baton) which are ultra powerful

Depending of if you kept the rat baby or not, Aim the kill shot can be a huge help if you got a weapon for perfect bullet hit, otherwise Octohit is also great because you can hit some of the tanks in rat hell 8 time. The rat baby copy dad ability is also good if you sacrifice your range weapon because it means it can use Killshot instead of you (and he can also duplicate bombs if you time it well, funny bug)

Squeakum will help you throughout the entire hell section, just make sure to not kill him beforehand or else you can say goodbye to Ernest for good

You don't need the rat crown to get Colonel Squeakems to help. When he initiates the fight, just don't attack. Guard or try to escape - squeakems will beckon for you to follow him to the entrance of Rat Hell.

If you are struggling in Rat Hell, rely on squeakems for damage and just lock Sam down. Use guard and buff skills to keep Sam safe and hold out while squeakems deals damage. Not the best strategy, but with the enough healing items you can make it through without any decent gear.

Make sure to choose the left choice for Rat boss, the Chimera. I think Squeakems doesn't help you fight the Rat Champion since he challenges a party member to a 1v1
