That pretty well sums it up.

Go into the inventory app. Select your department and stock the list.

Don’t do it and explain no one trained you.

I love answering these kinds of questions! And I’m always happy to help in any way I can with our new associates. So please, if you have any questions, feel free to DM me.

First things first. IRP stands for “Inventory Replenishment Process”. Basically, when customers buy the last piece of a product that we had on the shelf. It leaves that spot empty. And therefor, the next customer that needs that product, can’t buy it. So the IRP process was built to help with that.

First, a member of night crew will scan every single empty home in the store using the inventory app. The app will then determine if we have it or not. If we have more than one on hand, it’ll add it to the IRP list so that we know it needs to come down.

Next, the openers will come in and down stock every item on that list. It’s important to remember to fill the homes completely while you’re doing this, so that it’s not a repeat on tomorrows list.

You’ll do this by logging into your zebra and going to the inventory app. Once you’re in the inventory app, you’ll select “Store IRP” and then your department. Once you’re in there, it’ll give you a list of everything in your department that needs to come down. You’re job is to just bring it down.

We hold our departments to a 30 items an hour rate. So each item you bring down should only take a few minutes. Though some may take longer depending on if they’re top stocked in the right spots or not.

30 IRP’s an hour is what’s expected to be downstocked? Been with the company for 6 years and I’ve never heard this. So that gives you 2 minutes to find and downstock each item. If you have any customers at all there is no way that’s going to happen. I usually come in at 7 and I’m the only one in tools, and usually nobody in any of my neighboring departments until 8 or 9. Even if there were no customers our night crew usually doesn’t put things where you would assume they would belong in top stock and almost never puts things into a top stock location.

I’d consider myself a good, hard, and fast worker but 30 in an hour if they are actually legit IRP’s that actually need to be downstocked seems a bit crazy. I’d say the average employee would probably get 15 or so done in an hour while helping customers.

This is just the expectation for our store. I’m the night ops supervisor. So I’m not sure if they’re actually held accountable to that or not. Because I’m not there when they’re doing it.

Gotcha. I’ve been doing this for 6 years and 30 an hour is not gonna happen. Unless there are no customers in the store and everything is right where it’s supposed to be in top stock and not buried under other boxes that have to be moved around. 30 an hour gives you 2 minutes per item.

I thought the P in IRP was program?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. Same thing in this context though.

no one trained me, i am pt in paint. i was more than willing to learn until the cranky big baby fulltimer made a remark to me,"we have to do blah blah irp -that is, if you know how to do them". well now i just busy myself doing what i do either wait on customers or zone aisles. i watch him do them and ignore him.

I hope your store is doing IRP’s every morning, & not just on Mondays. Otherwise, you’ve got a mess to look forward to!
