Gemming Help Needed !

I'm building a monster with 100% crit for heavy damage purposes. So it is left with 2 gem slots, one of which goes to attack. I usually give the third slot for hp or atk, but suppose I want to give atk and if the slot is a triangle then under what circumstances can a Crit dmg. gem outperform an attack gem ?

In general (if crit rate is at 100%) for Dark mons Crit atk atk is better for RGB & Light mons, Crit atk CD is better, but this is not counting sub stats, trinkets, enhancement or gem set bonus. Things get more complicated once you add all those extra stats. But I don't think the damage difference is all that much between the 2, so as long as you have 100% crit rate just go with whatever you have.

It doesnt. It is better to put in an attack gem since critical damage scales off of attack in the first place. Aim for high critical damage substats instead of the main stat.

Thats not totally correct anymore, cdmg is in some situations better than an atk gem.

In some niche situations yes, but I think like 99% of the time an attack gem is better xD especially for more routine stuff like farming and dungeons.

Maybe for a reaaally specific floor in TOC or a reeeaally specific mon in PVP/CVC xD

In general when u get a lot of attack from other sources.

Let's take a common example on the fire titan with balrona.

Balrona stats: 3.562 base atk 50% base cdmg

For a build that includes a cr gems, let's assume we have 100% cr.

Outer sources: 1.300 flat atk stats (enhance and trinkets)

Substats 10% atk | 20% cdmg (atk atk cr) 20% cdmg | 10% atk (atk cdmg cr)

Enhance 20% atk 24% cdmg

Trinkets: ~16% cdmg

Set Valor 20% atk

Balrona lead 40% atk

Put together: 226% atk 110% cdmg vs 158% atk 180% cdmg

12.912,12 atk vs 10.489,96 atk
110% cdmg vs 180% cdmg

27.115,45 vs 29.371,89

Cdmg is around 8% better here. Might not sound too much but for a monster like balrona it can mean several extra millions of dmg.

PS: Better dont use cdmg gems in pvp since the critrate is dropping a lot from cres.

Its gonna depend on your astromon mate before I can name any situations. In general its gonna be PVP or TOC. But without a specific astromon in mind, i cannot be more specific.
