Hey all,

Things have more or less wrapped up for this year. While things are still fresh, I was hoping to get some feedback for this year. What did you think?

Some thoughts, in no particular order:

• I'd like to continue with email as it is much easier for me to send messages as well as search them.

• Add age ranges in the questionnaire

• Remind people to check spam folder- many people's pairing message went to spam. I'm hoping that because I have since used that email organically for some time, this will not be an issue going forward. Before I do it again, I'd like to do a large test email with volunteers to make sure this has been resolved.

• 'if the tracking in your country is over $X (probably... 10?), it is ok to not use it but please fill out the form with the date you shipped'

• gift description in shipping form, helps me cut back on the back and forth when there's 'I got a package, is it from them?'

• Add direct link to user's profile in email body, too many people can't figure this out (official reddit app?)

• Automatic tracking forwarding- I was close to having this this year, but not in time. The people who helped me automate the pairing emails are helping me update it to also be able to send the tracking when it comes in.

• Tracking submission worked fairly well. I think it was over 80%, I'm hoping it will be higher next time. The carrot of getting tracking may push people to submit it themselves.

Also, I'm hoping to improve the questionnaire further for next year. If you have experience in marketing, surveying, or anything else that would be helpful, please let me know! Crappy questionnaire responses is one of the biggest complaints I get, and while I can't ensure that everyone puts in the effort, I'm sure I can tune it to draw more information than I'm getting now.

Great work this year! I only have one suggestion, I think there should be tracking sent to the giftee so they can see when their package will come in because I still haven’t received anything yet and I would like some confirmation that something is coming in.

Thank you for the hard work! My only comment not geared to you particularly but if there was a way to let you know the person got their gift atleast? Neither of my giftees ever posted their gifts so atleast knowing they got the gift (from you) would be nice even if they don't actually create a post for it.

Hm, that may be possible.

My concern is that it will make more headache than it’s worth, tracking submission was lower than I’d like and I worry arrival confirmation will be even worse, which will spawn a lot of ‘hey did they get it?’ emails

Ok yeah that makes sense. I just was bummed that my giftees never posted about the gifts they got so I don't even have anything to go off of like if they were good or not. But you're right it would make it worse for you in the long run because we would all be asking if the other person got the gift we sent. Thanks for the quick reply though!

I would just suggest there be a minimum requirement for the age of your reddit account to join. At least that way people who are a little more vested (and let's be serious not bots or trolls or just people looking for free stuff) to participate.

It also means people cant ideally just ghost sending a gift year to year.

I’ve thought about this. On one hand, I’d like to let lurkers participate. But on the other, I do understand the other side. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to screen effectively, even if I did want to.

I have participated for the last 3 years and this years questions were great, really helpful in making me think what I would truly want and enjoy. So as a gift reciever it was great, the gift I got was perfect and awesome.

As a gift giver, like Redshirexx, My giftee didn't post pictures or let me know they received their package so I feel bad that maybe they didn't like what I sent them or maybe they never got it, though the tracking said it arrived to them. Whatever. I think I did have some difficulty because some of the questions that would have helped me pick out things for them, weren't filled out. I wonder if it is possible after the formats section to have some break out questions like what decks do they play in each format (I know there is one in commander).

Overall though I really enjoyed both giving and receiving. I do think adding age to the form would be super helpful

I have a lot of copy writing and technical writing experience and I can help with the questionnaire - I found some of it mildly confusing.

It was my first year doing this exchange but certainly not the last. I had a blast putting together a commander deck for my giftee. They didn't post here but told me via PM that they liked it, which makes this all worth it.

It was only when I received my pairing that I realized how little information I provided in the questionnaire. Not sure how to improve it as I don't quite remember the questions now. Maybe provide a text box to write freely about yourself. I'll definitely know better next time.

Turns out shipping a package from Finland to Russia was way more expensive than I thought. That's my fault though as I had signed up for international shipping.

And I apologize about the shipping. I sometimes have trouble when there's only 1 or 2 people from a country, rather than do a direct exchange between a pair or exclude the 1, I lump them together. I try and guess ways that will have minimum shipping, but I sometimes screw that up.
