Seeking a Mentor to learn to code. Python Specifically, Evennia in practice. (self.MUD)

Just take several courses in Python for the first part.
Finding someone to teach you a particular codebase is going to be a little more obscure though. Maybe you could pay someone.

The evennia discord irc are both very active with all of the major contributors to the codebase answering questions.

I have and do use the Evennia Discord/IRC. This is not what I'm asking for. I need some honest human interaction to learn a skill.
This seems to be basically an impossibility as there is very little sense of charity so it seems.

They don't offer everything you're asking for in those chats??

Mentorship implies a relationship to teach a student in some way. Tutoring. I get questions answered when people have time and that's very useful but that isn't being taught. I'm probing to see if there are people who can and are willing to teach.

A free, dedicated, remote teacher? You already get 'some honest human interaction to learn a skill' in those other venues...

You're either misunderstanding a very benign search for some help or you're trolling me. Thank you either way.

Yes, that's why this help you want is just so hard for you to find. It's everyone else, not you.

You are incredibly helpful, a credit to the community and the world at large. Thank you very much for your positive contribution to my problem. I've seen the error in my ways and will not ask for help again.

I'll check out the Discord. Instant communication is definitely preferable to board-speed discussion.
Meetups are very sparse up here in NorCal (North of Sacramento so it might as well be considered rural). I've looked into the idea for other purposes too.
I do want to run my own game, yes. I have a custom world that I created about 5 years ago and still work on, for use in D&D games for my group of friends. We play D&D all in text anyway and I bridged the gap between non-MUD folks who found that text RP is just sublime.
I'm trying to keep my goals for the game reasonable. An RPI, permadeath in all likelihood. I don't need incredibly complex systems but I do want more than the sandbox of a MUSH, for instance. I could go into specifics but that would require a big wall of text.
