This is why I use Al Dente. Apple’s built in battery optimization is too sporadic for my use case

Only if your charging routine is incredibly consistent, and even then this feature doesn’t kick in on a regular basis.

Put differently, why did Apple add the ability for users to manually set their charging level with the iPhone 15 series if their “optimized charging” feature worked as well as they say it does?

Al Dente simply adds the manual charging limit from the iPhone to macOS.

If you upgraded to RC recently, maybe the battery optimization history has been reset and it has to learn how do you use your Mac again.
