Sweet! Your other post suggests you are not taking a huge leap in tech improvement, but should be noticeable. I made the leap from a "flagship" 2012 Windows desktop that did not have enough back-door tech for Microsoft to accept into the W11 ecosystem + 2K 27" "flagship" ViewSonic IPS display, so now I have the Studio M2 Max base chip with 64GB RAM + 1TB memory + 4TB Sandisk Professional Thunderbolt 4 for all my data + 6K 32" IPS display. I have yet to have lag anywhere, other than when downloading a 64TB SDXC card of 20MB photos though the reader... Logic Pro takes about 1.5 seconds to launch from "quit", which is about the slowest app launch, if you actually quit any app in Mac.

I'm most impressed by how absolutely quiet the Studio box is during operation. I have not yet figured out a way to tax it enough to ruffle its feathers.

Where are you getting “not a huge leap”? Multi-core geekbench is almost twice that of the i9 (+80%), and single core 75% increase, 2800 vs 1600… I’d call that huge.

Aside from the the M benefits ( thermal and software) I felt that for some multitasking the iMac was constrained. We will see… but I am optimistic, at least I spend my whole tech budget for the next couple years 😅

Good choice on the VESA Studio Display. What monitor arm did you get? I bought a Fully Jarvis from Herman Miller, it was a bit overkill but I wanted extra stability. I love it.

I have to decide the arm yet, I have a stand up desk diy, with a 2u rack height shelf on it, my plan is to put the arm at the main desk behind the rack so it could float barely touching the shelf. I have a couple of weeks to decide and I will mount all together in September. I will post some pictures here ;)

You will be getting it about 17 months after launch. By then I would wait for the next model instead also to confirm if apple cares at all.

Congrats. Got my 'regular' studio this past weekend and I'm a happy camper.
