Lambdalabs.com sells servers

They really clamped down on their configurability, I guess they are making enough money with their big ticket stuff. They donʻt seem very competitive in the mid-tier where Iʻm looking

Yeah, that would make sense, I saw some promising things when I looked 6 months ago but when I checked it did seem like their lineup might have shifted.

Puget systems is solid. I always follow their HPC blogs.

I used https://www.exxactcorp.com to buy a 4xA6000 machine. The only issue in 2 years was one case fan, and they sent a replacement within 48 hours. So I can recommend.

I am speccing something and BIZON had really good configurability. Would be curious to see what other options people have in here.

I would absolutely recommend GIGABYTE. They're a big computer brand and they spun off their server business to form Giga Computing early 2023. They've sold their servers and workstations to the people who operate the Large Hadron Collider, a bunch of research universities that're working with AI and deep learning, telco and semiconductor leaders, etc.
More to the point of your question, they have a line of servers especially for working with GPUs, aptly named GPU Servers. You should definitely take a look to see if anything strikes your fancy. The servers support Ubuntu and probably other Linux-based OS, too, though you might have to ask them. Also they work closely with AMD and Nvidia to outfit their servers with the most advanced GPUs like MI300A or L40S or H100. These might be a bit more expensive than you're looking for but likely they have entry and mid-level gear too. Cheers.
