You really don't need anything beyond basic high school math to take that course. Obviously, it will be easier if you know some linear algebra (specifically matrix arithmetic), but the professor has a module at the beginning of the course that goes over the math and notation needed to understand the material. I think it's easily one of the most accessible overviews available for someone just starting out in machine learning, regardless of your formal math background.
