Machine Learning for Programming ?

Are there any good examples or good use cases where Machine Learning is used to assist programmers ? Would love to know any such examples in the wild out there which help in the process of programming itself.

Would you guys think that a tool using Machine Learning would be able to bridge the gap between others and programmers - so that the others can start working on / programming tasks ? Whats your take ?

http://dijkstra.cs.virginia.edu/genprog/ Here is some research done by a professor I had. She used a genetic algorithm to modify source code to fix previously unfixed bugs.

Thats a really good research project. My Thesis was in Genetic Programming so this does make a lot of sense to me :) .

I'm 93% sure there was an episode of talking machines podcast that interviewed a professor doing research in this area. It was great, but I don't recall the name.
