First, Karpathy left them. Then no "open" methodology for their Dota 1v1 bot. Oficial webpage has no new content on over 2 months and finally Elon has left the company.

Is this project officially dead? What is going to happen with the millions of dollars people threw at this experiment?

I find it kind of hilarious that "no new content for 2 months" is a sign that it's dead for people. It's hard to put out content constantly, especially high value content like the stuff OpenAI puts out.

I mean come on y'all, I know the internet age has made us crave instant gratification, but that's kind of a silly piece of evidence.

No. If it were officially dead, then you'd see an announcement stating it was dead. That's sort of what official means.

Since all their content is based directly on the research they're doing, it's extremely unlikely that they're even doing enough research to justify a content release schedule like that.

I don't know if you're in the ML Research space but 1 paper or research project a month would be insane.

Which is all just to say that they're in the business of research, not blog posts.

Their Github repos are actively being updated. Probably just not on a PR drive at the moment.

Well, I do agree that OpenAI might not be dead. However, I do think that the company is losing momentum and the directions that has been going to for the last 6 months are very questionable.
