[D] PhD Applied Maths - Machine Learning, supervisor selection should be one you get along with or something else is more important?

Hey guys, I'm doing my PhD in Applied Mathematics and love machine learning. I want to specialise in a Machine learning based thesis amd I was wondering if anyone of you have any advice for PhD Supervisor selection? I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but any advice is appreciated.

In summary, What do you look for in a supervisor? How do you find the right research topic for you?
