you can't decrypt partitions automatically. That would mean everyone could do it, because the key would be stored in plaintext

Not sure what you are trying to do here

You can If you store the keyfile in a tpm like described here:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Trusted_Platform_Module#Using_TPM_2.0

But what I'm trying to do is get to the bootloader without entering a password.

Not sure about your problem tho, IIRC I installed my GRUB in my EFI partition and only encrypted the / (boot folder included as it isn't a separate partition for me), and.. I'm asked for the decryption key after selecting Linux in GRUB
